Introduction

I must admit, I really enjoy great 3rd party utility programs for Windows ® that do a specific job well, without extra complexity or "bloat", as some refer to it!

Size Matters!
I'm no programmer but it appears to me that some software developers programs are enormous for the task they perform, which leads me to the below, what characterizes a utility program in the first place?

What is a utility program? (in my opinion)

• File size is usually well under "1 megabyte" (though not crucial), they may be mere kilobytes.
• Preferably the utility is standalone (portable) no installation necessary (again, not crucial).
• Simply and efficiently performs a specific task.
• Puts a smile on your face every time you use it!

Why do I need utility programs?
Hmmm... If your a command-line wizard, I guess you probably wouldn't require half the utilities that I use. Then again, it may be that I just feel more comfortable using a mouse in a "GUI" (Graphical User Interface). Ultimately, if you need to perform a specific task but can't find a way to do so with Windows ® built-in programs, find a utility that accomplishes the task!
